Is it possible for a batpony to survive off both blood and fruit? or is it only one.

Can a blood drinker eat other things but can only digest it with blood?
Example, a plate of pancakes and cup of blood, obviously it survives off blood, but could it eat pancakes because they taste good and be fine?

I see the whole blood for batponies as a kind of a drug. Some batponies come with inborn thirst that irritates them when not satisfied thus they are feasting upon others, but they can eat normal food as well without any problems whether for taste or simply to satisfy their hunger.

I will digress towards vampires for a moment here, but it's very interestingly put in The Witcher where a character, one of high vampires, says that it is for them as wine is for humans with similar side effects of overdose, intoxication. And also appearing as a form of entertainment thanks to the 'thrill of the hunt' thing. With abuse or certain behaviours, curious enough, being frowned upon by the high vampires' society.

I like to imagine Hollow Shades as a series of tall, black structures lining the walls of a rift valley, with lots of giant communal underground halls and arcades.

I also imagine that they use the heat from naturally occurring nuclear reactions to power central heating systems and so on. There's a bit of worldbuilding for you.

No idea, but guessing it is inside a dark forest makes me guess the fauna and flora of it resembles Everfree ... well, not THAT dangerous, but similar in appearance. Maybe it has Poison Joke and shit.

About furniture and stuff, well, maybe they import raw and processed materials, and export fruits and other vegetable products that only grows in their "special" soil. Maybe they're also a mining town because of how close the town is to mountains in this map >>13734852

It's possible that they utilize bio-luminescent plants and lifeforms to collect, use and store energy. Also, remember you can extract oil from plants.

The batpones live in small houses and shops that are placed in a circle along the edge of the forest. In the middle is a small market and town square. All throughout the town and surrounded forest are blue luminescent flowers and mushrooms that provide the light.

I imagine Hollow Shades community based off of roman architecture for public buildings with a infusion of 18th century for housing.

I do imagine a community of bat ponies living there, but the bat ponies do separate themselves from different house hold & what not.

Furniture is imported, but is also made by shops.

Local wild life consist of bats, rabbits, and timber-wolves time to time, and other nocturnal animals.

Are there any physicists or nuclear engineers here?

Is it possible that natural nuclear reactions could be used to power a hypocaust system, that is to say, central heating and so on, or would you need to process the uranium?

If you understood the underlying physics, how hard would it be for you to do this? If radiological safety wasn't a concern, could you do the required processing with Equestria-level technologies?

On a small-scale, say for a single home, this would be incredibly difficult, as the energy output from the reactors would potentially "overheat" the house.

Trial run went pretty well guys!
Since we basically have /some/ set grounds for what Hollow Shades is, it's not the best for discussion, but it's an excellent starting point.

Tomorrow's topic: Non Hollow Shades bats? Mountain dwelling batpones maybe? Differences between batpone towns/colonies?

My goal is to make this an ongoing anti shitpost thing, directing our debating into something relevant. My plan is to announce the topic before dusk hours (2nd set of dead hgours, early morning/early evening for most people itt) as sort of a go to when there isn't anything to talk about that lasts until the next day when a new topic is tossed out. Anyone else like this project, or is it pointless?

Thinkin' of names for the next Umbra weapons.

Spoilers for muh story, don't read if you don't want to spoil yourself. I need suggestions/opinions.

A large sword with ice element named "Glacial/Frost/Frigid/Winter's Majesty".

A lightning-themed spear named "Static Breaker/Bane/Ruiner/Scorner".

Hoof claws, fire-themed. I think I'm going with "Coronae & Borealis", if not, "Blaze & Star". Reference to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T_Coronae_Borealis
It's a nova that explodes multiple times and continues to, to this day.

Last Umbra weapon(s) is a secret, though you'll be seeing it soon... I think.

What do you guys think?

We established that there may be another bat colony in the Badlands, to the south. In some cave, somewhere--an underground city of sorts, illuminated by glowing plants or fungi, giving the city a greenish-blue light.

Otherwise, in my head canon, some bat ponies who live in normal cities work graveyard shifts or something like. For example, a night time weather team in Ponyville; somebody's gotta manage the weather during the night, right? Their prowess in the dark gives them desirable assets for this. But even then, they aren't that many in these cities/towns.

Listen guys. I know you're wanting equal rights for all ponies. But they can't just put a token bat pony on the team just to avoid looking racist unless they're actually able to compete as an actual wonderbolt. I don't care that you don't like seeing an all feathered team on the posters, but the bats have to complete the training like everypony else.

It's not like they fail bats from the academy out of sheer prejudice. And the fact that there are no day time classes and tinted goggles aren't allowed during training is not at all an attempt at segregate. It's just tradition that all thuroughly patriotic candidates would be comfortable flying under the Celestia's sun, and the shaded goggles are known to fracture. Dangerous stuff.

Better luck next year leatherwings. Assuming you actually make it into the academy of course. Some changes are being made to the entry tests.

I don't think bat ponies should have the ability to walk on clouds. Also they aren't as fast as pegasi and cant control weather. Echolocation, stealth, good vision during the night and a heightened sense of smell are a good trade off for lack of pegasi abilities.

One group of batpones ended up getting exiled for [insert reason here] and are more or less nomads that live to the west of Hollow Shades, with a few scattered clans here and there that branched of from the lineage of the original pones that were exiled. But I agree with certain sentiments from >>13760260 that people worry too much about various the tripfags. In that people worry when they may not have posted recently. Or that posts stating a distate for a piece of content are met with worthless and honestly, harmful responses like "It's all just one guy, ignore him" and "lel nice b8 m8".

Ignoring something is better than shitposting about it but letting people voice a reasonable opinion (of any stance) without it being discarded is important, too.

It's funny actually, 4 weeks or so ago, people were arguing whether or not bat ponies should have bright colors and the majority thought that they should mainly have duller, earthy tones like Midnight Blossom. Now it's the other way round and anybody who doesn't like the brightly colored bats seems to get ignored.
I think the problem is that people put the contributors in the thread on a pedastal, and that whatever they make is above criticism and needs to be liked, almost universally. That's not constructive, it's not healthy for a thread and it really just reeks of people being desperate for any kind of fix they can get.

Light green would actually look fairly bad with Speck's colorscheme, especially if the cutiemark on her helmet and shield keep the same color as her cutiemark. I think a silver and purple or silver and dark blue would look better.
